Landmark co-living development in Kingston welcomes its first residents
Along with our joint venture partners NTT UD Europe (NTT UDE), we are delighted to announce the practical completion of The Rex, Kingston, our co-living project located on a gateway site next to Kingston rail station.
The landmark development, the first co-living project developed to BREEAM Outstanding sustainability standards in the UK, welcomes its first residents this month. It’s the first project delivered by the partnership – and also marks NTT UDE’s successful debut into UK’s Living (multi-family and co-living) sector.
Providing 212 co-living apartments within a vibrant, amenity-rich environment, The Rex caters for a diverse community of residents, from young professionals and key workers to long-term locals and downsizers seeking a connected, environmentally responsible way of living in London. Located directly opposite Kingston Station on one of the town’s key pedestrian routes, The Rex creates a vibrant and welcoming gateway into the town centre and supports Kingston’s wider regeneration and placemaking ambitions.
Setting a new benchmark for the sector, The Rex has been awarded interim BREEAM Outstanding in addition to Fitwel 3, and WiredScore Platinum certifications. Designed to meet the Greater London Authority’s net zero carbon and LETI 2030 targets, it exceeds Building Regulation requirements for operational energy performance by 59%, by deploying smart building technology and a data-centric approach to reducing emissions.
Placing resident wellbeing and social connection at its core, The Rex features a diverse range of indoor and outdoor communal spaces to foster interaction and a strong sense of community. Amenities include a residents’ lounge, private dining room, gym, cinema room, roof terrace, gaming room, podcast studio and co-working space. A dedicated on-site team are responsible for curating a dynamic programme of events, workshops, and wellbeing activities, encouraging healthy, active lifestyles and meaningful engagement among residents and the wider local community.
The scheme is operated by Amro Living, our in-house operational platform, which specialises in managing sustainably designed co-living, multifamily and student accommodation. Leasing activity is showing robust early demand from prospective residents ahead of opening.
Raj Kotecha co-founder and CEO of Amro Partners, said:
“We are delighted and honoured to have partnered with NTT UDE in their first residential project in London and look forward to growing this partnership in the years to come. The Rex is a flagship co-living property addressing a critical need in the London residential market. Preleasing demand has exceeded our forecasts and we look forward to welcoming our first residents.”
Tadashi Ito, Managing Director at NTT UDE, said:
“Delivering The Rex as our first UK residential project has been a remarkable journey. Despite the economic and regulatory challenges faced during the development process, our collaboration with Amro Partners has resulted in a truly outstanding scheme that reflects our shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation. We are proud to contribute to Kingston’s regeneration and to offer a new model of community-focused living that aligns with our global vision for urban development.”
