Third and final phase of community consultation is now underway.
We have now undertaken the third and final stage of community consultation for our redevelopment of Lewisham Retail Park ahead of plans being submitted later this year, with full details of the masterplan revealed for the first time to local residents, businesses and stakeholders.
Our team welcomed over 100 local people to public events held on 4th and 6th September at the former Carpet Store, now transformed into a pop-up community consultation hub, where they were able to explore interactive masterplan boards, 3D models and virtual fly-throughs. Representatives from the London Borough of Lewisham and project architects JTP were also on hand to answer questions.
Full details of the public consultation material will remain open for residents to submit comments and feedback on the plans until 30th September 2025 (visit: https://lewishamretailpark.commonplace.is) before final plans are submitted to the London Borough of Lewisham at the end of the year. Subject to approval, construction is expected to commence on site in early 2027.
Building on feedback received earlier this year, including responses to proposals for commercial and community spaces on the ground floor, we were delighted to share plans for a new public square and Food Hall, food and drink outlets that prioritise local businesses over chains, dedicated play areas and landscaped outdoor spaces.
The project will deliver approximately 1,400 new homes compromising 1,2 and 3-bedroom rental homes, co-living and student accommodation with shared amenities. Significant public realm improvements are also incorporated including the creation of new green spaces, cycle paths, almost 100 new trees and permanent community spaces. It will be one of London’s most sustainable new buildings on completion, achieving the highest possible certifications including BREEAM Outstanding.
Amro’s Senior Development Manager, Abi Heraty, said: “We’re grateful to everyone who joined us online or at this month’s pop-up consultation events and for the very encouraging feedback we’ve received so far. It’s particularly great to see so many residents returning who attended previous consultations and are clearly engaged in the evolution of the plans. The views of the local community are vital in successfully shaping a scheme that Lewisham can be proud of for decades to come.”
